"bubu"
We've all looked at the world through the eyes of a child, yet over the years we've often forgotten it.
With this work the artist wants to evoke the wonder, the purity of soul, the state of love and trust that our "childhood" preserves.
The work is therefore a profound reflection on the innocence and wonder of childhood, an invitation to rediscover the purity of soul and trust that characterize our childhood.
Using recycled nautical ropes, the artist creates works that stand out not only for their aesthetic dimension, but also for the strong symbolic meaning of their weaving and for the responsible political message that promotes the protection of our ecosystem through a conscious artistic approach.
The knots that characterize the work allude to the intrinsic bonds between humans and the cosmos, evoking the idea of connections that transcend time and space. These knots serve as a metaphor for the relationships that unite us, suggesting that although our experiences are layered by cultural and social superstructures, there is always a yearning for a return to authenticity.
The sculpture invites the viewer to observe the world with new eyes, freeing themselves from prejudices, fears, and mental patterns that often inhibit the ability to experience wonder. The work represents a journey into each of our childhoods, a moment to pause and rediscover what truly matters, through the surprise and enchantment of every small detail. With its nostalgic charm and strong connection to ecological themes, this work urges us to become attentive stewards of our planet, valuing and protecting the beauty that surrounds us.
"Art has always questioned the present moment, telling of changes, of revolutions, sometimes anticipating them. I believe that today art cannot help but address the climate crisis. I believe in a project that awakens social consciences." These are the words of artist Emanuela Giacco, summarizing her existentialist research and her message on sustainability.
The artist continues: "Every year, tons of synthetic textile fibers are disposed of, and in the worst cases, they're dumped on the ocean floor, harming the seagrass and all species. I believe art speaks through emotions, which is why the message it conveys will always be so powerful."
The sculptures made with recycled ropes thus encapsulate the synthesis of his research, existentialism, the universe, nature and sustainability.
